Bachmann Trains has announced the production of an HO 2-10-0 Russian Decapod in ATSF paint.
The Santa Fe had 3 Russian Decapods which they acquired with the Kansas City Mexican and Orient in 1928. Santa Fe had 3 of these locos (USA 1169, 1180, 1184) which came with the purchase of the KCM&O (Orient). On the Orient they were numbers 401-403 renumbered to the Santa Fe as 2554, 2555, and 2556. The 402/2555 was scrapped in 1930 before being repainted. The other two went to scrap in 1934. The Santa Fe did not like them, and they saw very little service on the Santa Fe. Unfortunately Bachmann has numbered the loco 2456, a number not word by any Santa Fe steam loco.
