Walthers Budd Grill-Diner 6325

The 2001 release Walthers Budd Grill-Diner 6325 is a model of NYC Grill diner (Budd, 1948). These cars are not ATSF prototypes, but I enclose photos because the cars look so good. No ATSF Budd diner had doors on the aisle side. The Kitchen side is somewhat like Awatobi, 1486 & 1487, but the aisle side is very different.

The only plastic ATSF diner is the Concor model which does not have the quality of the Walthers Car.

The attached photos are of the car straight out of the box. The metal grabs have not yet been added.

For further information, see the Common Traits page.

A modified Amtrak version can be seen here.

Also see the prototype in The Passenger Car Library, Volume 5, Santa Fe / Southern Pacific, by W. David Randall, RPC Publications, 2002.
